How To Upload Tattoo Into Sims 4
Sims4 CC Tattoos – A Beginners Attempt
*Note* I've fabricated some new tattoos and learned some new tricks. I'll be updating this soon.
I've never been happy with the tattoo options in the sims. In TS2 of course most of the tattoos were tied to their outfits, but in TS3? Gah, the default options were atrocious! Who would want one of those tattoos? TS4's defaults tattoos are amend, kind of, but when I made my simself for the first time, I realized I wanted to add MY tattoo. To do that I needed to learn how to make custom content. I wasn't ready back and then.
Today I got my tertiary tattoo and I think I'm ready. So I searched the internet for how to make tattoos. I establish two sets of instructions. One on the Sims4Studio thread past Mister S and one on tumblr by Sims Sala Bin – this final one was the more useful of the two. (I refuse to spotter video tutorials because videos frequently brand me want to scream. I'yard sure they're good though.)
So here's what I did.
- Download and installed Sims4Studio (yes you lot have to make an business relationship at that place)
- Downloaded the body texture (I just grabbed the female i for now)
- Downloaded a plug-in for Gimp to save files as .dds
- Extracted and put the gimp plug-in file in my gimp plug-ins binder: C:\Program Files\GIMP two\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins
- Opened gimp to make certain it all the same worked and that "salvage equally dds" was now an pick. Yay!
- Create a new postal service to document this take chances 😛
- Next I opened S4S. Gah this interface!? 😦 I establish my second instructions was a fiddling more "footstep by footstep" but my interface doesn't match hers. First, I added my "creator proper noun"
- After some more poking around I determine that choosing "Create a CAS Standalone" selection was the correct selection. I likewise now realize this mini-tutorial volition probably exist out of date later they change the interface again. Sigh. I clicked on the blue "CAS" buttton.
- I filtered the options down to > female: developed: tattoo section and then selected a tattoo and clicked side by side. (I picked the stars 1).
- This prompted me to relieve a parcel file – which I did to my desktop. The tattoo then opens. I'm supposed to "clone" the tattoo according to i tutorial. Luckily my other one said to "export" the texture. I click on that push button.
- This time a .dds file is saved, too to my desktop.
- I try opening the .dds file with gimp. It fails – invalid file type – I panic.
- I endeavor opening the file again at present that gimp is already open – information technology works. I think perhaps I accidentally tried to open the .package file the beginning time so that was a user error.
- I'yard supposed to add together the torso texture to the image. (Well there's this bit about making the background black and such – but I ignored that…for now.)I drag the body texture file onto my workspace and information technology opens.
- After moving my layers effectually I meet the tattoo on the body. This is starting to expect upwardly. I at present regret I don't actually have a scan yet of my back tattoo ready to get.
- I go to google and catch a random dragon paradigm instead. Even more regret that I've just moved and take no idea where my drawings are…or where my scanner is.
- I add together that dragon to my work space and realize I need to delete the white background.
- The background won't delete. Back to google. Patently I must add and "alpha channel" to delete the white. I right click on the layer and find "add together alpha channel." Then I upwardly the threshold to 100.0 which gets rid of almost of the white edging when I do click to delete the white.
- I flip and scale the layer with the dragon. Information technology kind of matches mine? Well not really.
- There was a bunch of stuff about alpha channels and making a white tattoo that I think was just then that the edges didn't have white? I kind of ignore that stuff. Instead I hide the non-dragon layers and export as a .ddsf file. And then, I clicked back over to S4S and press "Import" texture.
- And of grade, non paying attending, means I fail. I can't import information technology because I didn't save it with a BC3/DXT5 pinch…I hope that was an pick?
- Back in gimp, I try exporting again. This time paying attending to the consign options. It is there. 😀
- Over in S4S once more, feeling more confident, I try and fail again…it merely saved the size of the dragon – not the canvas.
- Googling and reading this, I learn way more almost dds files that I knew before (which was nothing, so that wasn't that much of a feat. However, I don't acquire what I need to know.
- I realize the fix for this result is much simpler and just resize the dragon tattoo layer to be the unabridged sheet…duh.
- I endeavor again and voila! I am very genus. It looks like a tiny bit of my tattoo is existence cut off past the shoulder, just that's okay – if this was my tattoo I would intendance more, only this is just a exam tattoo until I observe the pictures to scan. I salve the parcel.
(This is because the "back" image that I used to put the tattoo on, is overridden past a bit of the "front" image where there is no tattoo. I take a feeling my back tattoo is going to be much easier than my arm tattoos.)
- I add the .package file to my mods folder (afterward making a brand new subcategory: tattoos! Because I know there will be more.)
- I open up the game, fingers crossed and check my mods screen. (Yes, I take way too many mods now.) It's in that location.
- I forget that my CAS groundwork is a painful green screen colour – the better to cut out the background for pictures – simply it's blindingly green. Sorry!
- Anyways, we're in business!!
Now I just have to terminate unpacking and discover my scanner and the original pictures of all my tattoos! At last, a mere i hour 10 minutes after I decided to do this, and several thousand google tabs and searches and downloads afterward, I take successfully mastered basic tattoo making.
